I'm Kate, I am wife, a dog mom & a marketing executive.

For as long as I can remember having general anxiety disorder has added extreme stress to all areas of my life including self medicating. It drove low self esteem, people pleasing tendencies and the inability to say no.  

I found myself at a point where change needed to occur, something I was doing was not enough and a friend said quite sternly "You always need to be seeking." She was referring to a relationship with a higher power or a spiritual path.

I started this blog after realizing that my lack of spirituality  & constant connection to something greater was keeping me from reaching my full potential in all other areas of my life. I was surrounded by love but felt alone, I was addicted to work because it gave me an identity, any outside distraction I could use to avoid an empty soul. I found it difficult to ask for help because I had a hard time identifying what I was feeling, the feeling was emptiness. 

My career made sense, my relationships made sense, doing what was asked of me was easy but when it came to taking care of myself and asking for what I needed I had no instruction guide. I did not know how to take care of me. I had a rolodex of support from therapists, to programs I worked, to friends and family who have themselves gone through similar situations, but I had trouble communicating what I was feeling. 

Spirituality & a higher power were not a new concepts, I know many people whose lives are driven by a God of their understanding and I have seen it work in their lives. I had to make a change & hopefully find a path that gives me value from within & the knowledge that I am never alone.

I want to note that I will use 'higher power', 'god', 'spirituality' and 'universe' interchangeably, I'm in no way speaking to religion I am speaking to something greater then ourselves.
